Our Story

Ours is a story of 10 years of togetherness, nurturing each other’s dream and a passion to build business on flour, sugar, and love.

For me, it all began in a cosy studio apartment in the UK, where I fell in love with the oven and everything it could create. When I moved back home to Bengaluru, I left my cushy corporate marketing job and followed my heart into the world of baking. Since then, I’ve never looked back.

Hi! I’m Shilpa Sathyaprakash, fondly known as Shil’s. Over a decade ago, I started my baking business — Shil’s Bakehouse — from our home kitchen, with just a small Morphy Richards oven. With the constant support of my partner, we’ve created thousands of custom cakes, cookies, gift hampers, and party orders — all handcrafted with love.
A few years into this journey, along came Jay — our son, our heart, our little bundle of joy. From that moment, baking took on a whole new meaning. It was no longer just me in the kitchen; it was me and baby Jay. From licking the last bit of icing to monitoring trays in the oven like a pro, he has been an integral part of this story every step of the way. My little helper. My little chef.

And so, Mama Jay’s isn’t just a name — it’s a tribute to our family, our passion for baking, and our desire to share this love with the world.
